Bulletin for March 6th 2016

Call to Worship (Romans 15)
L: For I tell you, Anointed has become servant of the circumcised on behalf of the truth of God, in order that he might confirm the promises given to the patriarchs and in order that the nations might glorify God for his mercy.
P: As it is written, “Therefore I will confess you among the nations, and sing praises to your name,” and again he says, “Rejoice, O nations with his people;” and again,“Praise the Lord, all you nations and let all peoples praise him.”
L: And again, Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse shall come, the one who rises to rule the nations, in him the nations shall hope.”
P: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may a bound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer of Invocation (based on Isaiah 9): We pray that the Lord Jesus, he who is Wonderful, our Counselor and Mighty God, we ask that  he might be among us this day, in order that love might be genuine, that we might hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good and love one another with mutual affection.  In Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer of Confession: Almighty God, through your son Jesus you took us in, you took those who were your enemies and cleansed our hearts and minds, drawing us to yourself.  Help us to take in and welcome one another.  Forgive us when we have fallen short, turning away from our neighbors and failing in fellowship and brotherly love. Scripture reminds us that when sin increases, men’s love grows cold.  Deliver us from our sins that we might be like you and might seek after the truth.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: Jesus said, “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink,” and “whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. Come, buy, without money and without price, for Look! the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Hear the good news.
P: In Jesus Anointed we are forgiven. Amen

Call to Worship (Psalm 121)
L: I will lift up mine eyes to the hills from whence comes my help.  My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.
P: He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keeps thee will not slumber.
L: Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber, nor sleep.
P: The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.  The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night
L: The Lord preserve thee from all evil.  He will preserve your soul.
P: The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth and even for evermore.

Prayer of Invocation: We beseech thee, Master, to be with us our helper and protector on this the first day of the week, our day of resurrection. Save the afflicted among us; have mercy on the lowly; raise up the fallen; appear to the needy; heal the ungodly; restore the wanderers of thy people; feed the hungry; ransom our prisoners; raise up the sick; comfort the faint-hearted. In Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer of Confession: O Lord, who hast mercy upon all, take away from me my sins, and mercifully kindle in me the fire of thy Holy Spirit. Take away from me the heart of stone, and give me a heart of flesh, a heart to love and adore thee, a heart to delight in thee, to follow thee, obedient to thy calling to thy good pleasure. In the name of the Lord Jesus we pray. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Anointed. He who calls you is faithful and he will do it. Hear the good news.
P: In Jesus Anointed we are forgiven! Amen.
